Systematic Review published to determine if sufficient evidence exists to support technology for the early detection of PI/PU

Read a new publication in the Journal of Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing whereby the authors, Katherine Scafide et al. conducted a systematic review to determine whether sufficient evidence exists to support the use of bedside technologies for early detection of pressure injuries/ulcers (PI/PU).

The authors reviewed evidence on a variety of technologies including Ultrasound; Thermography: Sub-epidermal moisture measurement; Reflectance spectrometry; Laser Doppler.

Their findings include that there is a “body of research regarding SEM measures which include multiple, high quality studies”.
